What up, guys? 👋
How’s your weekend going? I’ve been painting and just keeping myself busy with a million things I have to do everyday and one of them was painting a portrait of my doggie 🐶
And well, I’m really glad (and lucky🙏 ) to be able to get some rest. Though, gotta be honest, taking it «easy» by writing a post ain’t that relaxing, but still quite fun to be fair.
ICYMI, here’s my last post, it’s a portrait of one of the «Black Narcissus» protagonists
So I’ve been thinking and I wanted to do those comparisons where the artist recreates one of their old paintings and then shows their progress. So I have painted two for this idea. (So stay tuned for the next one 👀 )
But for now, I’ll be showing this bad boy, it’s a cassowary🐦
This one over here it’s from September last year. 👇🏻
I don’t even remember how I stumbled upon this bird. They’re quite intimidating and they make a very creepy and eerie sounds, (so I got very curious) they transport you into the prehistoric era and thank whatever it is you believe in you didn’t exist back then… 👂
Oh, okay after searching for this video I remembered that there was a man who was keeping a cassowary as a pet and, unfortunately, the worst happened. You can read about it here. A tragedy all the way around.
So as I read more about them I was very much impressed on how they look like dinosaurs 🦖
And they are also considered «the world’s most dangerous bird».
After reading all of this, I decided to paint this bird 🐦 back in September, and I did three portraits, here’s another one 👇🏻
👩🏻🎨As you may already noticed, I painted this with gauche on an A5 paper
For the new one, I wanted to incorporate my style, the style I’ve been crafting for the past couple of months and the result is this ✨
I usually like painting wet on wet, specially since I like doing my colours right on the spot. And that’s how I rolled mostly on this one.
Pink hues and some blues cause that’s the cassowary signature color.
I really enjoyed painting this one.
At first, I really didn’t see the point. It happens, like «I’ve already painted this, why again?»
But as I continued, time flew by and then it was done.
That’s the magic 🪄 of painting.
And that’s pretty much it for today’s blog. I do hope you have a wonderful weekend and get to do all the things you wanted to do, or maybe you’ll just chill and that’s fine too.
And if you want to read other blog entries, you can maybe read about my Procreate Dreams first impressions, or maybe check the Easter bunnies 🐰 I did.
Godspeed
